Salt and Pepper Kitchen Plymouth sits on High Street, offering a straightforward café experience with a strong local vibe. It’s the sort of spot that works well for a casual breakfast or brunch, where the focus is on hearty, familiar dishes prepared quickly and with care. With an emphasis on fresh, locally sourced ingredients—like eggs from nearby farms and meats from local butchers—the menu leans into classic café comfort food rather than anything too fancy.

Visitors typically come here to enjoy a relaxed morning or early afternoon meal. The seating feels informal, welcoming families and solo diners alike, and it’s easy to imagine locals dropping in regularly—whether for a cup of coffee paired with scrambled eggs or a full English to start their day. The café’s energy comes in large part from the owner, whose friendly, upbeat presence adds a genuine layer of warmth, making the service feel personal rather than routine.

The menu is solidly built around options like a full English breakfast that appeals to those looking for a traditional, filling start to their day without stretching the wallet. There’s also a decent selection of paninis and burgers for a casual lunch, and simple sides like halloumi fries and chips with curry sauce support a no-fuss dining approach. Coffee is a definite highlight here, with cappuccinos and frappuccinos that fit well into the easygoing pace of the café.

Best times to visit are generally in the morning to early afternoon when the kitchen is in full swing and the atmosphere buzzes with a steady flow of locals and visitors who appreciate straightforward good food and a friendly face. While the space isn’t geared toward lingering with laptops or long hangouts, it does offer a warm and welcoming pit stop for breakfast dates, family outings, or quick catch-ups over coffee.

If you’re in Plymouth looking for a familiar breakfast or a solid lunch spot where things are done simply and well, Salt and Pepper Kitchen feels like the kind of place you’d return to—not for a new culinary adventure, but because it’s dependable, relaxed, and genuinely hospitable.

We were accommodated with a warm and friendly welcome. The food tasted absolutely amazing. We had gyros and chips that were flavoursome but not over powering, cooked perfectly. Pricing is very reasonable and affordable. Will definitely be back. Highly recommended.

A must visit. Not being from Plymouth we wanted good food and good value place to get a bite to eat. Luckily we found “Salt & Pepper Kitchen” after reading some views. What a welcome from Ervis, full of smiles and genuine warmth. We chose sit inside but they have a few tables outside. The food is locally sourced and home made. The loaded fries with pulled pork was delicious. As was the Seasonal Turkey panini.. with all the trimmings & proper cut thick turkey breast. Really exceptional value! The cafe is convenient for the centre. Very clean and cosy. With a good menu selection. If we were local this would be easily a favourite place to visit. Why not give it a try.. we are sure you won’t be disappointed.. thank you Ervis! You really know how to treat your customers.
